How to Create Wall Art Out of Long Pendant Light Cords

We love macramé as much as anyone, but maybe you want your walls to be fun and functional, especially if you're working with limited space. Using a long pendant light cord to create wall art is the happy medium. All you need are a couple of plug-in pendant lights with long cords and a few (OK, quite a few) Command™ Clear Round Cord Clips.
Materials needed:

1. How we hung our lights

Command™ Clear Round Cord Clips make this project super simple. They're designed to keep cords untangled, but we used them to take two basic plugin bedside pendants to the next level. We sourced the colored cords, brass sockets, and round Volta Bulbs from an online shop, but you could also use string lights or LED rope lights to get some more glow. You could also loop or even spell words with your cords. You do you!
Measure your cord to make sure you have enough length to play with. You'll want at least 15 feet of cord; 25 feet works even better. If you've got a large wall you want to fill with an installation, order a custom extra-long cord. Then sketch your design on paper or loosely map it on your wall. The great thing about squiggles is that they're not precise. We made loose measurements, then installed the cord clips as we went. Work from the bottom up, measuring up from the outlet to make sure the cord's taught. (And oh yeah — make sure you can plug the cord into the socket!)
2. Install your Command™ Clear Round Cord Clips

Make sure you're following all package instructions when putting the clips on the wall! To install correctly:
- Clean your wall with rubbing alcohol, wipe gently, and let dry.
- Separate the strips.
- Remove the black "wall side" liner and apply your strip to the wall.
- Press firmly along the entire strip for 30 seconds.
- Remove the black "clip side" liner and apply your clip to the strip.
- Make sure the tab is accessible for future removal.
- Press firmly along the whole clip for 30 seconds.
- Repeat for each clip on your wall.
3. Clip the cord into place and you’re ready to go

Once your clips are installed, wait an hour to let the adhesive set. Then, clip your cord into place. (To install the pendant at the top, we used swag hooks and hanging tabs included with our plug-in pendant cord sets. The Command™ Clear Round Cord Clips are great for securing cords, but their weight limits don't cover the lamp and pendant itself.)
The cool part of this project? If you get tired of the design, you can always redo it. Command™ Brand's damage-free cord clips are easy to install and even easier to remove. So get creative, "draw" on your walls, and share your project to inspire others!
